A watered-down version of the wolf pup, a guess the necessary concession for the low. Hazy Pup IPA is a New England IPA style beer brewed by Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA. Up front, bold, than a tamer beer followed by that crisp pop with the bitter at the end. Yet middle of the road seems to shift gears and start to calm down. Than that faint ghost of the beer on the back of the throat. Mouth is fairly light and the finish is like a crisp pucker. Like a nice IPA than soothing down to a pale ale type of beer. The taste just has a slight linger to it. Mid tongue more bitter and than a nice calming of the pith bitter at the back of the mouth. Also getting a bit of sweet from the citrus. Up front with the citrus pith and a bit of bitterness. Some body but mostly the pith of the citrus. Head has settled a bit to a nice little topper. Slight one finger of a pretty dense head of white. Golden Road Brewing, did a real nice job with this brew. Overall I am going to give Wolf Pup Session IPA a solid 4 out of 5. The IBU meter is relatively low (45) but still pretty hoppy and extremely drinkable. The Wolf Pup is only about 4 years old and is pretty dang refreshing as a Session ale. It’s great when the weather is 50 degrees, but this will be absolutely amazing in the summers. It’s definitely fruit-forward, which I absolutely love. Highly drinkable with a wildly aromatic tropical and citrus character, its the perfect. It’s a refreshing fruit beer with a can design that is inspired by the iconic fruit cart vendors in LA. Hoppy and refreshing, Wolf Pup is our riff on a Session IPA. While I think I liked the Mango Cart with the fancy addition at their DTLA Pub, I still liked this simpler version. The Mango Cart (which came complete with a chili-salted rim) was delicious and now I was eager to try out the non-salted version, as well as their Wolf Pup Session IPA. I have tried a couple of their beers, but the one that really knocked my socks off was had at their DTLA spot. They also have a few other spots now across Southern California – their main brewery near Glendale, as well as newer ones in Anaheim and Sacramento. Inside the market was also my first stop at a Golden Road Brewing pub – the Golden Road DTLA spot. One of the coolest vibes I got was in Grand Central Market – an awesome spot complete with tons of supermarket items, as well as really sweet restaurants as well. Golden Road Wolf Pup Session IPA Golden Road Brewing 4. Though I don’t think it meets the standards of Portland or Bend, I found some really cool spots along the way. When I was in downtown Los Angeles for work this past March, I had some time to explore the DTLA beer scene. From post-race pints and run club meeting locations, to beer miles and relays, running and the kegged nectar seem to go hand-in-hand in Oregon. The Wolf Pup Session IPA is low in alcohol content and calories but still packs plenty of flavor.
